The registration with the consulate is the first formality that has to be complied by the Moroccans newly settled in Canada and the Moroccan first generation in Canada recently celebrating the sixteenth birthday.
The registration is the creation of individual files for the applicants that would allow them to benefit of the consulate effective administrative and social services such as assistance, protection and safeguard of rights.
The Moroccan nationals registered, automatically, get a consular card that :
- Proves to the Canadian authorities that the card holder is under the protection of the consulate of the Kingdom of Morocco in Montreal. Nonetheless, this card replaces in no case the National Identity Card (C.I.N) or the Moroccan passport. Besides, the consulate card does not exempt the holder from a visa or a resident permit delivered by the Canadian authorities.
- Proves to the Moroccan authorities that the card holder resides legally in Canada.
- Facilitates the customs control and offers an exempt of the export tax in case of the permanent return to Morocco.
- Helps preserve a certified copy of the original documents in the consulate to be requested by the card holder in case of loss of any of these originals.
